Veni, vidi, vici

I came, I saw, I conquered.

There is only one man who came to Arsenal, become an Arsenal hero and scored a goal (not one but 2 with different club) against them. It was obvious he didn't feel good about it hence the non celebration but to his surprised, the respect he has given to the club was repaid by a standing ovation from the crowd with the fans chanting "Dudu! Dudu!"

Eduardo will always hold a special place in the heart of every Gunners Die hards. We are still sad that u left us but understood that u need more playing time in order to get back to your level best prior the horrific injury. Wish u the best in Shakhtar Donetsk. See u in Ukraine  in 2 weeks

In the end we were happy that we won 5-1 and looking good to cruise to knock out stage of CL.

For now, let us give the respect to Eduardo, the number 9 player, a humble clinical finisher and one of the reason why i love Arsenal and still.

The new season has begun!

After so much anticipation and patience plus the world cup hangover already over, now we are back to the real football. EPL season 2010/2011. It's going to be a massive season to many teams especially those teams who'd try to topple the 3 big teams (not big four anymore!) and become the new elites in English Football. We will see how these ambitious teams will end up at the end of the season.

Who'll be demoted this season? Who'll cast the biggest upset? Who'll crack under pressure. There will be too much drama to bare.... i m loving it already. :)

And which team will yours truly be supporting this season? none other than the team that build champion rather than the team that buy champions. Arsenal the gooners it is! yeay

and why they deserved better? becos what they have gone through last season and still finished 3rd best team.
Yeah babeh, they are good. This clip might  recall u a bit about their beautiful game.

Rangkuman Cerita in One go - part iii

Many has been said about Judgement Day; the latest was in sort of movie. 2012 hit local cinemas last Thursday and it received quite number of reviews since opening day. Many believe that the Mayan Doomsday Prophecy is for real suggesting apocalyptic event such massive solar storms, flipping of the magnetic poles, earthquakes, super volcanoes, and more may occur in 2012. Even King Michael did mention about it during one of his footage rehearsal in 'This is it' movie. That illustrates how much the Mayan Prophecy influences our daily living irrespective to those who chose not to believe it. I have stop seeing such action disaster film since The Perfect Storm. The likes of  End of Days (2006), The Last Days on Earth (2008), Seven Signs of the Apocalypse did not excite me at all. It is not a fear factor; it is just these movies do not click me in any way. Contemplating myself to watch a movie about our world gone catastrophic in 2 hours is totally garbage. Even some of my peers thought the 2012 film is a direct insult to our Tun Mahathir's 2020 vision and London 2012 olympics, ahah.

After all the Event, The Inevitable shall occur whether we are prepared to face it or not as mention in the holy Quran, chapter 56.

"When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; When the earth shall be shaken to its depths,
And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, Becoming dust scattered abroad,
And ye shall be sorted out into three classes.
Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand?
And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter)."

[Surah 56. Al-Waqi'a (The Event, The Inevitable), 56: 1-10]

I believe the description in Quran capture the truth about Judgement Day and what more important which classes shall we be sorted in. It is not as wildly captured by the imagination of  one Hollywood Director; Roland Emmerich whose credits include Independence Day (ID4), The Day After Tomorrow and Godzilla?!  hmm...

ID4 trailer

In the football scene,

Many world cup 2010 qualifying play-off  being played all over the world. In Europe qualifiers, 8 teams battled each other out for the last 4 spots in next year's world cup. It looks like France, Portugal and Russia are in the driver's seat after a slightest advantange from the first leg playoff. However, as world cup qualifier is never short of upsets; teams like Slovenia, Ireland and Bosnia or even Ukraine still look promising to go through. My fingers cross for Bosnia to upset Portugal and let our FIFA world's player Ronaldo rotting at home in Lisbon. :b

New Zealand 'All Whites' also made history paving way to the finals since 1982 after defeating Bahrain in another Asia/Oceania qualifier play-off. It seems a blessing in disguise for the Oceanic Champion after Australia  parted way with the Oceanic Zones and join Asian Football Confederation (AFC) last year. Indeed the Socceroos also successful in their quest to the world cup next year thus making 2 Oceanic nations qualified. How sweet can it be, one neighbouring nation sacrifices is another nation gains. How I'd wish our Malaysia and its neighbour Singapore can be built around this philasophy or has we actually incorporated it as mention by our famous Che Det  with the latter always got an upper hand? sigh.

Apart from qualifying play-off, many international friendlies also being organised with Eng vs Bra and Spa vs Arg took centre stage. Results was not important for this meaningless friendlies. The direct benificiaries are media and FA's with live telecast rights and match ticket moneys. The losers are obviously club managers and fanatic football fans who miss watching club football over the weekend. Some concern issue during international friendlies is player gone back to their respective club out injured after their international duties. This is bad for football club who are eyeing for championship silverware. One true example is Arsenal.

v persie in agony after harsh italian tackle- Reuters

Arsenal lost v persie in last weekend international friendly. The striker is going to be sidelined for torn ankle ligament up to 6 weeks. That is not positive for a club whose gunning for the championship at the end of the season. With a tight schedules coming and meeting Chelsea in 2 weeks, Arsene Wenger wont take this news lightly. Even though Chelsea have their best player such Lampard, Terry, Drogba also on treatment table but losing arguably your best striker during November is such a bitter pill to swallow for Wenger and he need to tweak his 4-3-3 formation to suit best this difficult time. Again, one striker injury is another striker gains. Eduardo have his opportunity to shine or maybe pair up with Arshavin for more typical English 4-4-2 formation. In Arsene we put our trust again.

Quotes of the day

I was watching a hindi movie on zee tv. A movie acted and produced by Ajay Devgan and his sweet pretty wife, Kajol entitled U, Me aur Hum (translates as: You, Me and Us). A movie about one husband determination to come in term with his wife's Alzheimer's disease. The wife has short term memory loss.

Still watching but few lines seem interesting to share with. A very good family/couple movie outings. It has been showed quite number of time on astro but only tonight did i really notice.

Quote 1
"God created a man with a slightest advantage. God made man to love someone but God also made him to love himself more." - Ajay, regretting himself when he abondoned his wife at a psychiatry centre.

Quote 2
"There are 2 set of rules for a happy life. 1. Fulfill all your promise to your wife. 2. Never promise any to your wife." - Ajay, when he determined to bring back his love one home and arguing with the doctor who attended his wife.

Quote 3
Sometimes the greatest journey is the distance between two people. - a true love statement.

It's fun to have lots of good thoughts to end your day/to start new month.

and to digress a little, the biggest quote of the day.
"Spurs have not beaten Arsenal in the league for 10 years, and the sequence seems continues"

It's so near yet still far away.

I am waiting patiently for my flight announcement. I m leaving back to KL after a short stay in Penang. I don't know how long it will be, but I m sure it won't be long. Travelling whether on the road or via air is time consuming and definitely tiring. Yet sometimes you kinda enjoy the event occurred within the limited time period.

For instance, last nite I got the chance to watch my favourite team playing against traditional rivals in EPL. The classic Arsenal vs Man Utd. Interestingly, I got to watch it with my dad @ a nasi kandar outlet downtown. Who could think ayah would care to join me for the match? I think as he got himself with his own time, he is enjoying every bit of space he's having now. The chance to watch the game with ayah @ mamaks was priceless!

the place me and ayah had our nescafe tarik..

Arsenal was the unfortunate side last night, they had all the gun blazing from the first minute yet they were still loser. Thank you for a dubious penalty given to Man Utd and an inexplicable own goal by abu diaby. That was the best Man Utd could do? The fact there was not a single threat from open play from Man Utd really made the lost more unforgiving. It's sad to lose in such way but it shows how a competitive football can be. U can have the best structural free flowing team to win but when we were against a team like Man Utd, a team with winning attitude and determination and a maestro touch of Sir Alex, u need to go extra mile to earn your rightful place and test your character. It's a sad lost to arsene. I wonder we could win again @ old trafford coz I remember the last time we won here, we still have henry, pires in the squad. Sigh, :(

Arsene being ridiculed by the home boys after being sent off to the bench 30 sec before final whistle. What a shame, ref Dean!!
picture from times online

Oh well, stop the rantings, league is not won in 3 games. It is not the end of the world for my arsenal. We have a long season to go and I am sure we could pick ourselves up and get back to our feet. We just need the belief and we will carry on from there. Go goonerz!!!

Barcelona the answer, Wenger!

The new champion of European Football; FC Barcelona - Getty Images

It was a wild night to remember as Barcelona the newly crowned European Champions beat defending champion, Man Utd 2-0 in stadio Olimpico, Rome. It was even a sweeter revenge for the Catalonia team as they have beaten the team that kicked them out at the semi finals stage last year. The match between the two domestic champions ( EPL and Primera Liga) was considered a classic of all finals setting up two teams with two different set of footballing approach. Whilst Man Utd is considered tough, physical and a counter attacking side - a typical English side approach, Barcelona is more prudent, fluent and all attacking open play side. Indeed these two sides produced an entertaining 90 minutes play which most of the neutrals would enjoy and take pleasure in. (which i did!)

The build up towards the final was tremendous with both teams have achieved everything domestically. Man Utd has retained their EPL crown for 3 consecutives years apart from the Carling Cup and the World Club Cup whilst Barcelona break their duck of 3 year trophy less with 2 domestic cups in hand. In the end the final would set one team apart and put themselves in the history books with both managers eyeing to become the best manager of Europe. Sir Alex would be glad to hold his third European Cup putting himself at the same level as Bob Paisley of Liverpool. Pep Guardiola would be the youngest manager to hold the cup and secured a successful treble just in his 'rookie' managerial role. Finally, the younger manager did in the end got the last laughs.

The dejected side - getty images

the 'rookie' manager got his deserving credit - getty images

Man Utd was the better team for the first 10 minutes with chance after chance. Ronaldo got a free kick saved and few chances off target. Barcelona really took their chance with the first attack that produced the first goal. It came as a surprise and killed off the defending champion playing rythm. From there on, we could only see one team will emerge as champion and when Messi capitalise his marker and headed home the second goal, the game was totally over. It encapsulate the whole journey of Barcelona from a distant European glory transforming into a Europe powerhouse for years to come. Furthermore, it also give the title rights of the best player of the world to the deserving one between Ronaldo and Messi in which the latter seems entitled for.

the goal that killed the game - getty images

Nevertheless, the game was won by the Catalans not because of the Argentinian. It was indeed won by the contributions of two catalans players whose ranked up from their youth academy system. Iniesta and Xavi were the major influence at the centre of midfield commanding and controlling the ball whom Carrick and Anderson could not find answer to diffuse. It was the through ball of Iniesta and a curling ball by Xavi that find Eto'o and Messi for both goals and the duo deserved the right credits being the best players on the pitch.

It was a great ending for a great night. The potential of Barcelona to maintain their crops of players and win more cup in future looks bright. It also give credit to their style of playing of winning the ball, passing and attacking in which another young side, Arsenal take approach. There is a resemblance of attacking style between the two in which Arsenal lack of  in term of match winners and experience players. By looking at how far Barcelona has reach within 12 months, and with a little tweak in Arsenal camp, I foresee Arsenal would become another attacking side football club that could mesmerise the world. I hope Arsene watched the finals and get a tip or two and start the build up to end up 4 hiatus years of trophy less.

In Arsene We Trust (at least for now)

For now.. viva FC Barcelona. Hail the Blaugrana

Advertisement: Looking for new club to support; at least until season end

Me is a true blue Arsenal fan. I have been supporting Arsenal ever since Ian Wright was the prominent strike force and King Henry was a mere player in a supporting role. Patrick Viera was still wearing the majestic No 4 jersey and Tony Adams was the leader of the pack at the backs four. Back then the only chant we heard amongst fans was "1-0 to Arsenal". In those days, Arsenal was a true contender in all competitions they were involved in.

We used to be immortal

"Times change real fast"

The current crops of Arsenal players are more boys rather than men. Nevertheless they have shown grits and characters in at least 3 fronts - The EPL campaign, FA cup and the Champions League. Unfortunately, the campaign ended quite dramatically at least for the later two which Arsenal was beaten in the semifinals. We were beaten by Chelsea in FA Cup competition whilst Arsenal went down to Man Utd in the Champions League Semifinal.

The build up for the two cup competitions was rather astute and compelling. These young guns were praised and admired by fans and the neutrals as true challengers. Yet when it come to the big days when guts and  pride were on the line, these young gunners were left choked and destroyed. It could have ended a fairy tale campaign for a big manager as Arsene Wenger to brag off all season yet when reality bites.. it hit real hard.

Last night UCL campaign was ended within 11 minutes when Man Utd scored their second goal of the night to make them leading 3-0 on aggregate. The moment Arsenal conceded the first goal, the reaction on Mr Wenger face was typically predicted. He could never find answer to why these gunners were simply shutting off at their own home turf.  It was a bitter pill to swallow for all gunners but this could be a turning point for us to reflect and move forward even better. I myself have stop believing with Mr Wenger approach on young players but sometimes when they really on form, they are simply too good. It will be a matter of time before these young players can find their rhythm that can suit the premiership direct playing style and I think the upcoming season many few areas such as our defence and set play must be addressed and if there is need to buy experience players by all means we need to buy them!

one mistake that led to disaster - Tony Jenkins

the masterclass kick that seperate us apart - AFP

As for now i have no more cups and campaign to support for ( fyi, Arsenal already secured the last place for next year UCL). It do not bother me much to wait for the last 3 games in EPL to decide the standings of the young guns. They are secured at least fourth in the league. The build up for next season has to begin now and for a start we have ARSHAVIN available for next season UCL. Arsene Wenger need to find balance between experience and tenacity in the squad for them to be a contender yet again. Otherwise we are 'gunner' have another season with empty silverware again and i will have to start advertising myself for another club somewhere else.. maybe in Burkina Faso.

Yes! We need true leader in our dressing room, a respected leader like

22 March 2009

Hey, look who's back on champions league spot!!

The fate in this year UEFA champions league has been thumbed last Friday with Villareal and Manchu United /Porto FC are on our way for the final in Rome. It won't be an easy draw as people would think off. Villareal was a losing semi-finalist to us, during our road to final in 2005/06 Finals only losing with 1-0 aggregate. This year, Villareal looks more outstanding and stronger and managed to get through the group stages as a runners up to Manchu Utd before defeating Panathinaikos in the first knockout stage. That's really a testimony to this spaniard team better known as 'The Yellow Submarine'

Even if we pass thru  El Submarino Amarillo, we will indeed have to face either Manchu Utd or Porto  FC in the semis. The favourite would be the 2008 Europe Champions themselves, the red devils but we hope Porto FC at least can give Man Utd a good run of their money like what Porto did with another spanish team, Atletico Madrid earlier. Fingers crossed! It will be a dream come true to meet Porto FC who actually from our group stage round and obviously we have a better head to head meeting but Man Utd still have an upper hand only lately showing some meltdown (losing back to back to Liverpool 1-4 last week and Fulham 0-2 earlier yesterday).  Whatever it is, we have to focus on ourselves and pickup pieces as we are still running in at least 3 competitions (the FA Cup, UCL and last not least the 'fading chance' in EPL championship).

Nevertheless, I wont be whining about ourselves and the chances had people realise that we are unbeaten in 16 premier league games. That's hell of a record in order to catch up with another 'big 3'. The focus and the team's determination to be back in big four can be reflected on the pitch and we are improving strength to strength to capitalise our great run for that title challenge. Yesterday's game in St James park stamped our position back in the big four as we beaten Newcastle 3 to 1 and we are now 3 points ahead Aston Villa who will be visiting Anfield tonite. I am sure Liverpool is eyeing a good result to position themselves 1 point behind league leader Manchu Utd who lost to Fulham yesterday and The Reds hopefully would do a good favour for us as well by beating Martin O' neill  Villans team. Go Reds!!!. :)

Now, to add another salt to this fourth position in the EPL league challenge which quarantee a qualification for UEFA champions' league next year, Aston Villa will see Manchu Utd next at Old Trafford after the international week. And a wounded lion like Man Utd definitely will roar and release all their cylinders to win the fixture as these last few games of the season is vital and important to keep themselves the chance for a third in a row championship medal. Again, we love u Sir Alex to complete the job for us and definitely you'll be well acknowledged in our 'Rival Manager End Season Assist Hall of Fame.' You'll be the man arsenal most remembered, Sir Alex ;)

This is our latest position after last night game!

Our 4th defeat and the season finally over

Gallas, Sidwell and Young at loggerheads

After much hype a week earlier with a nice build up matches (great win against traditional rival Man Utd and a demolition of Wigan in Carling Cup tie), Arsene and the young gunners were once again being put down back to earth by another premiership team, Aston Villa who ranks lower than them. Arsenal lost to a more combative and direct Aston Villa with a 0-2 score in a game that can be considered as lacking the desire to keep on winning. Worst, we lost it on our home pitch, The Emirates. duhh...

Sadly, that lost has put Arsenal season in an abrupt end even before year end as realistically we are no longer an EPL Champion material. I hate to say this but with 9 points adrift from our neighbouring London team, Chelsea before Christmas; it's finally over!

The game between Arsenal and the Villains Villans should be a turning points for Arsene and his young guns to position themselves in a better league position and compete for the title. Instead failure to capitalise on earlier initiative has put Arsenal mathematically in a difficult position to fight for the crown. For the record, Arsenal and Aston Villa are now 4th and 5th respectively in the league sharing the same points after 13 games whilst Villa shorts in goal different.

I dunno whether this lost is another tactical move by 'the professor' (read: Arsene Wenger) himself to give Aston Villa a morale boost before their next encounter against Man Utd next week considering Man Utd is back on great form after routing Stoke City, five to nil. Banking on the Villans for a back to back win against the other 'Big Four' is a very crucial for Arsenal's own season after all.

Martin O'neill

The answer will be on Mr Martin O' neill himself who briliantly manoeuvred Aston Villa back from a losing team transforming them into a 'hot streak' against Arsenal. Yesterday, Aston Villa was more ambitious and resilient between the two, creating chances after chances. They were the superior in the centre of the field, killing off every Arsenal moves, holding and posess much of the ball and in the end got their break after 70 minutes.

They were the better team and that was it!

I have no idea what will be Wenger's response after the second home defeat at Emirates. Whether he will give more excuses or finally admitted that we are not physically and mentally strong enough to compete for the title this season. What i would not want to hear from him is how the other team keep stopping them from playing Arsenal style of attacking football by adopting a physical and direct approach. In other words, disrespecting Arsenal's kind of play.

Mr Wenger!

This is not about playing beautiful game anymore, this is more about playing beautiful game every week in and week out. Your brand of eye-catching football is only a good show but a win will give you 3 points whilst a losing side give you a zero, zilch. As simple as that. Period.

The longer you keep whining about not given space to prove yourself, the more you are proven wrong!

I just wish you would stop listening to your guts and prepare for the worst. January transfer window is an opportunity to redeem yourself and further safe Arsenal from more blushes. For now, I just can only hope even it is a fault hope which sometimes hurts.

Yours Truly,
a dissapointed unforgiving fan.

It never meant for us this time

Our journey to defend MCOBA Futsal title was cut short in the quarter final. We were beaten to a better team with quite a big margin 0-3. It wasnt meant for us this time. Even in the first round matches we ended only with 1 win and 2 draws. The 2 draws were with our regular rivals; Class of 97 and Class of 95 that ended 1-1 and 0-0 respectively. Both was a close match that can go any way but indeed we survived as the runner up at group stage.
The stats also shown that our attacking have been in decline. With only 2 goals in 3 games and both came from Zef ( a defender) showed that a lot has to be improved in coming days in order for us to get back on track for next year tourney. I wish we could start early this time and perhaps get ourselves familiarise with few 'setpieces'. At least, these setpieces could be our 'weapon' to survive a more faster and physical games which involve younger teams.
Anyways, the damage has been done. No need to cry me a river. Start fresh for next year, we will be back stronger and budwiser :)
As the pressure has been put off; now i can sleep tight-er. *sigh*

arsenal - liverpool, the second of the trilogy

EPL match @ emirates

arsenal 1 - 1 liverpool

this is basically a result that would end all hope for the gunners to fight for 2007/2008 championship.

(update: man utd draws against M'boro tonite made them leading only 6pts ahead of arsenal and 3 pts again chelsea with 5 games remaining)

it turn out chelsea got an upper hand as man utd will be visiting stamford bridge come april for a title decider.

ars vs liv should be a game for arsenal to win but they were left trailing after a goal from peter 'robotic' crouch. Lucky our brendtner saved the day otherwise it will turn sour. Indeed, arsene still have the face to tell the world we are still fighting for a crown that are already fading away. Hello mr arsene, could you please be more realistic here!!? Just stop give all the reasons and start thinking off finishing the last game of three vs liverpool. We need a conclusion not a mere reasons...

I just hope, and still hope we will stick to ourselves for another comeback @ anfield.. I dont mind another draw but please mr manager sir, give me a *2-2 draw or worst, try to win this game as our goonerz life is depending on it. We will give you this last trust to prove your worthy, mr wenger!

* a 2 - 2 draw at anfield qualify arsenal to semifinal of UEFA CL based on away goal rule. Let's make this happen.

3 April 2008

ah arsenal, not again.

UEFA CL quarter final @ emirates
arsenal 1 - 1 liverpool

- I woke up this morning hoping for a good news in mind. Only to curse myself when i found out that my gooners team only manage a draw. This is not looking good in my perceptive as it will be a daunting task for a return leg at anfield in front of D kop. hmm, abe & adiq would be smiling by now. shesh!
- Not again, we need to do another milan at anfield this wednesday! With premier tie (with liverpool again!) on weekend very much in arsene mind, it will be more difficult which tie should be prioritise, on the other hand you wouldnt want to lose out the contention on premiership to Man Utd but on the other, another CL progress to semis and perhaps final is a grandeur prize to grasp. think arsene, think.. pls dont tinker but THINK!
- I wonder how long will arsene take to make this young team become a real contender. I was almost made to believe it will happen this year. However, now it just show we are lacking in tenacity and character and this will once again ruin our season.. ahh, it will be typical arsenal - play beauty but no bounty!
- If i were wenger, the first person to be replaced is dearest Almunia, he might be good on typical game but he is absolute sucks on big game. We need big guts and big guns on big game! i wonder if arsene might op for lehmann on weekend. Let just watch and keep hoping wenger to reshuffle the team around to start producing results.
my finger's cross to gooner! and pls stop me from say it again..
